The Student Union was built during the Western Carolina building boom of the 1930s. New buildings included McKee, Hoey, Breese, Graham and a new Madison Hall. The Student Union provided space for Western's student government, clubs, and publications.
Davies Hall was Cullowhee Normal and Industrial School’s first dormitory. Built in 1909 to house the school’s women students, it was occupied in January, 1910. It was torn down and replaced by Reynolds Dormitory for men in 1953.
