Dr. Carl A. Schenck and a man identified as Mr. Vaughan stand with a felled Douglas Fir tree at the logging camp of McDonal and Vaughan in Coos Bay, Oregon during the fall of 1913. The tree's diameter measured nine feet and six inches across.
