Description
This basket, made of honeysuckle with white oak ribs, was probably made by Lucy Nola George (1897-1978), in the early 1900s. This basket appears to be dyed using bloodroot, giving it a reddish orange and yellow color. The basket features a fitted lid and small handle. George was from the Bird Town community on the Cherokee Indian Reservation in North Carolina also known as Qualla Boundary.
