This 1920 issue of the Southern Industrial Educational Association's Quarterly Magazine includes several articles related to mountain life and the work of settlement schools in the Appalachian region. The lead article focuses on "The Tragedy of the Mountain Women's Lives" with the rest of the journal primarily about Kentucky missions, mentioning Pine Mountain Settlement School and Hindman Settlement School, as well as Berea College. This particular issue was owned by Frances Goodrich who was doing similar work in western North Carolina. The Southern Industrial Education Association was "organized to promote industrial vocational education of children in the Southern mountains."
