Description

This draft history of the Allanstand Cottage Industries craft shop in Madison County, North Carolina was written by shop founded Frances Goodrich in the late 1910s or 1920s. Goodrich wrote numerous articles and promotional brochures about the business during this time. The paper tells the story of the development of the Allanstand community as well as the history of the log cabin which was built as a rest stop for travelers, rebuilt as a storehouse, and finally acquired by Goodrich for her roadside craft shop.
