This sound recording is an excerpt from an interview with Murrial Martin, know as Murray Martin, talking about how the Brasstown Carvers got started at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, North Carolina. Martin taught woodcarving at the school from 1935-1973. She also oversaw the school's woodcarving cooperative that later became known as the Brasstown Carvers. George Armstrong conducted this interview in the early 1980s.
