Description

This sale brochure promotes the products of the Spinning Wheel, a weaving studio and regional craft shop in Asheville, N.C. In 1925, Clementine Douglas opened the Spinning Wheel, a weaving studio and retail shop selling a range of local crafts. Douglas taught the weavers and served as lead designer. The shop was first located in north Asheville at Beaver Lake but latter moved to Hendersonville Rd. in south Asheville, where the building still stands. The shop was especially known for its "picture-weave" linens. The brochure also offers hooked items including coasters, mats, and rugs produced by the Spinning Wheel, as well as ceramic pieces "from the potteries of our mountains."
