Throckmorton Pottery (Luther, N.C.)
Description
This pottery vase was produced at the Throckmorton Pottery in the late 1930s or early 1940s, most likely by Thomas Throckmorton. This small vase features a thick turquoise glaze. Throckmorton and his wife bought the Omar Khayyam Pottery in Luther (or Candler), N.C. after the death of Oscar Bachelder. They operated the pottery for several years before local anti-German sentiment forced them to leave North Carolina.
