Description
This photograph, taken in the late 1920s, shows Marguerite Butler and Louise Pitman standing outside of the Farm House on the campus of the John C. Campbell Folk School. Butler (later Marguerite Bidstrup) was co-founder of the school and served in various administrative capacities. Pitman came to the school as an instructor in 1928 and served as director of the school's Handicraft Department from the late 1920s to the 1940s. The Farm House was the only pre-existing building on the campus and the first to be used for the purposes of the school.
