The Southern Highland Handicraft Guild met for its fall membership meeting in Asheville, North Carolina on October 25 and 26, 1937. Meeting minutes generally contain committee reports, financial statements, new members list, announcements of regional events, and discussion about special issues facing the organization. At this particular meeting Mr. Wilbur spoke for the National Park Service about museums and collections in the parks. Lucy Morgan spoke about the first national craft conference held in New Hampshire. Allen Eaton spoke about plans for the Rural Arts Exhibit to be held in Washington, D.C. Eaton reported on continuing discussions with the National Park Service about sales in national parks. Allen Eaton's book "Handicrafts of the Southern Highlands" was presented. The Southern Highland Handicraft Guild was founded in 1930 as the Southern Mountain Handicarft Guild. The name was changed to the Southern Highland Handicraft Guild in 1933 and again in the 1990s to the Southern Highland Craft Guild.
