Description
This donkey or mule was made by an unidentified woodcarver in the 1930s or 1940s. The piece is signed "JH" indicating this was probably made by John Hall (1875-1962) or Jack Hall (1920-1984), both members of the Hall family of carvers who were known for their mule carvings. Both men sold their work through the John C. Campbell Folk School's woodcarving cooperative that became known as the Brasstown Carvers.
