Description

Highland Highlights was a newsletter "published every once in a while by the Southern Highland Handicraft Guild" starting in 1942. This particular issue contains the minutes for the Southern Highland Handicraft Guild annual membership meeting in Montreat, N. C. on March 15, 1945. Meeting minutes generally contain committee reports, financial statements, new members, announcements of regional events, and discussion about special issues facing the organization. The first order of business was to waive the dues owed by members serving in the Armed Forces. Olive Campbell spoke about the General Education Board and their request for an Exploratory Study which was completed. Marian Heard and several other members told about their part in the study. The membership took up the business of Guild incorporation. The Southern Highland Handicraft Guild was founded in 1930 as the Southern Mountain Handicraft Guild. The name was changed to the Southern Highland Handicraft Guild in 1933 and again in the 1990s to the Southern Highland Craft Guild.
