Description
Highland Highlights was a newsletter "published every once in a while by the Southern Highland Handicraft Guild" starting in 1942. It usually gave members news from the shops, information from and about Guild meetings, tips and reminders, as well as news of general interest. This issue announces the start of the Preliminary Study for the Craft Education Project. There are several pleas directed at various crafts persons asking them to send more work to the shops. World War II was cutting into the amount of production by rationing raw materials and decreasing the number of craftspeople. The Southern Highland Handicraft Guild was founded in 1930 as the Southern Mountain Handicraft Guild. The name was changed to the Southern Highland Handicraft Guild in 1933 and again in the 1990s to the Southern Highland Craft Guild.
