Description

This watercolor template or pattern was done by Ettamae Deweese for the Spinning Wheel's weaving room in Asheville, N.C. around 1928. Clementine Douglas, manager of the shop, encouraged her weavers to create designs for the household textiles they produced. A drawing or painting would serve as a template for the design concept. Then a simplified line drawing or cartoon was drawn to be placed on the loom for the weaver. This particular design was ultimately woven as a wall hanging.
