Description

Cherokee basket makers demonstrated their craft at the Craftsman's Fairs of the Southern Highlands, here they are depicted at the 1952 fair in Asheville, North Carolina. On the left, Lucy George demonstrates weaving with honeysuckle vine. In the middle, Caroline Wolfe makes a split white oak basket. On the right, Lottie Queen Stamper weaves strips of river cane to make a double weave basket. This photograph was taken by Edward L. Dupuy.
