Description

This undated large rivercane storage basket was likely used as a laundry basket. It is large and shallow with small handles at either end. While it is not known who made this basket, the basket was from the Snowbird Community on the Qualla Boundary near Cherokee, North Carolina. Dyed with bloodroot, walnut or butternut, the design of the basket is known as Cross on the Hill or Eye of the Sacred Bird.
