Description
Allen Eaton was the Russell Sage Foundation's representative to the Southern Appalachian region and one of the founders of the Southern Highland Handicraft Guild. In 1934 he was largely responsible for a traveling exhibit of handicraft work which was sponsored by the American Federation of Arts. The exhibit opened in Blacksburg, Virginia and traveled to Washington, D.C.; Brooklyn, New York; Decatur, Illinois; St. Louis, Missouri; and several other venues. In this document, Eaton describes the exhibit's reception in Washington, D.C.
