Description

Allen Eaton was the Russell Sage Foundation's representative to the Southern Appalachian region. His involvement with the Southern Highland Handicraft Guild from its earliest days onward led to close friendships with many Guild members and area craftspeople. Each December Eaton sent out an informative summary letter about his year. This letter was probably sent to Clementine Douglas in 1941. In it he discusses his Christmas preparations, the work beginning on his second book "New England Handicrafts," plans for an exhibit for the blind, impressions of meeting Dr. George Washington Carver, and a timely discovery about forks.
