Description

This is a page out of an unknown book, with an inscription by Allen Eaton. The inscription reads, "A souvenir of a good time had by yours respectfully and affectionately, 1932 Allen Eaton, in the month of June." The caption of the illustration reads, "Italian cow blanket shown at the Homelands exhibit at Trenton, New Jersey- worn by the family cow in festival parades." Eaton assumed that this Italian cow blanket was the inspiration behind (Kate) Granny Donaldson's whimsical stitched and appliqued "cow blankets." However Donaldson, of Marble, North Carolina, disputed such influence and claimed her popular folk textile pieces were of her own creation.
