Description
Southern Highlanders, Inc., organized in 1935 through the encouragement of the Tennessee Valley Associated Cooperatives, brought together the work of about sixty Appalachian craftsmen. Their shop in Rockefeller Center in New York City made Appalachian crafts available to those who could not visit the Southern Appalachian craftspeople personally. All photographs in this brochure were taken by Doris Ulmann, and all quotations were taken from Allen Eaton's "Handicrafts of the Southern Highlands."
