Parsonages
Description
This is a page from an early photograph album kept by Frances Louisa Goodrich (1856-1944). Goodrich was founder of Allanstand Cottage Industries, later donating its assets to the newly formed Southern Highland Handicraft Guild. The album records Goodrich's first mission posting in the Riceville/Brittain's Cove area of Buncombe County, North Carolina. This photograph shows a closer view of the group that is also shown on page 4. The caption across the bottom of the page reads: "Riceville Parsonage...First N.C. station of F. L. Goodrich...1892." Very lightly in pencil, the adults are identified as F. L. G. [Frances Louisa Goodrich, standing at far right], "Mr. Roberts," and "Grace."
