Description

Zebulon Weaver (1872-1948) was a lawyer and U.S. Representative from western North Carolina. He was a member of the North Carolina Park Commission and was involved in the land acquisition process that went towards establishment of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and development of the Blue Ridge Parkway. In this eight page letter, Kephart thanks Weaver for sending him a copy of the bill providing for the establishment of a national park in the Great Smoky Mountains. He also discusses the reasons why he considers this area of the Appalachians, designated for the park, as being best suited for an eastern national park.
