Zebulon Weaver (1872-1948) was a lawyer and U.S. Representative from western North Carolina. He was a member of the North Carolina Park Commission and was involved in the land acquisition process that went towards establishment of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and development of the Blue Ridge Parkway. This set of two letter is regarding the progress towards securing money for completion of land acquisition for the Smoky Mountains National Park project. Following are brief summaries of each of these letters: Dennis G. Brummitt to Zebulon Weaver, July 14, 1932 In this letter Brummitt asks Weaver about his progress towards securing money for the park’s development from the Congress. Zebulon Weaver to Dennis G. Brummitt, July 20, 1932 In this letter Weaver apprises Brummitt of the progress of his bills in the Congress regarding appropriation of money for the national park. According to Weaver, he was working on getting some money for the park through the Reconstruction Finance Commission.
