Description
This correspondence--a set of two letters-- between Mrs. Una Plott and Miss Ola Plott Ingram and Zebulon Weavers deals with the possibility of inclusion of the Plott Balsam area within the park. Mrs. Ola Plott Ingram and Miss Una Plott to Zebulon Weaver, June 5, 1933 In this letter Mrs. Ola Plott and Miss Una Plott request Weaver to consider extending the boundaries for the park by including the Plott Balsam area located near Waynesville, North Carolina. Zebulon Weaver to Mrs. Ola Plott, June 10, 1933 In this letter Weaver states that the inclusion of the area will be dependent on the availability of funds for land purchase. Zebulon Weaver (1872-1948) was a lawyer and U.S. Representative from western North Carolina. He was a member of the North Carolina Park Commission and was involved in the land acquisition process that went towards establishment of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and development of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
