Description
Zebulon Weaver (1872-1948) was a lawyer and U.S. Representative from western North Carolina. He was a member of the North Carolina Park Commission and was involved in the land acquisition process that went towards establishment of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and development of the Blue Ridge Parkway. This correspondence from Weaver discusses a letter Edward P. Moses sent to W. A. Hyatt, Chairman of the Board, Haywood County, regarding legislation introduced by Senator Carey. According to Weaver Moses had been campaigning against him and the park because he had lost lands in litigation and the letter about Carey was meant to show Hyatt about work done by the Senator to relieve the tax burden on counties which had lost lands to the park.
