Description

The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was established in 1933 as a public works program during the Great Depression. There were 22 camps located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The archival materials in this collection relate to CCC Camp NP-5, which was located at the mouth of Kephart Prong of the Oconaluftee River near the historic Smokemont community in Swain County, North Carolina.
