Civilian Conservation Corps (U.S.) -- Officials and employees

The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was established in 1933 as a public works program during the Great Depression. There were 22 camps located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The archival materials in this collection relate to CCC Camp NP-5, which was located at the mouth of Kephart Prong of the Oconaluftee River near the historic Smokemont community in Swain County, North Carolina. Camp superintendent, Edwin J. Rosser is pictured at left.
