Description

The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was established in 1933 as a public works program during the Great Depression. There were 22 camps located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The archival materials in this collection relate to Company 1459, which was originally housed near Townsend, but moved to Gatlinburg in September 1933. These photographs, in the CCC collection, appear to be made with family and visitors, perhaps during enrollee’s time off.
