Description
Deals Gap is a mountain pass along the North Carolina-Tennessee state line, bordering the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The twists and turns of the highway have contributed to the nickname of “Dragon” or “Tail of the Dragon.” This photograph, with others in this series, are included in the records of the Smoky Mountains Hiking Club, formed after a group of outdoor enthusiasts hiked up to Mount LeConte in October 1924.
