This photograph, with others in this series, are included in the records of the Smoky Mountains Hiking Club, formed after a group of outdoor enthusiasts hiked up to Mount LeConte in October 1924. Pictured is a group of park supporters from Knoxville, Tennessee. It is not clear what group this delegation represents as there were many different organizations pushing for the establishment of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Among others included in the picture are Carlos Campbell (second from left) and David Chapman (far right).
