Description

This photograph of a bent oak tree was taken along the trail between Hangover and Stratton Bald. Trees were sometimes bent like this as a means to mark a trail. The photograph was made by Albert Gordon "Dutch" Roth (1890-1974), an avid photographer and one of the founders of the hiking club. The back of the photograph is stamped “Jim Thompson Co. Knoxville Master Photo Finishers,” indicating it was probably printed by hiking club member James E. (Jim) Thompson (1880-1976).
