Description
This view of the Chimney Tops is seen from Mt. Mingus. The photograph is in the collection of the Smoky Mountains Hiking Club, formed after a group of outdoor enthusiasts hiked up to Mt. LeConte in October 1924. Enjoying the spectacular views, the group returned to establish a formal hiking club to sponsor hikes into the Great Smoky Mountains. The first official club hike was led by Albert Gordon "Dutch" Roth (1890-1974), an avid photographer and one of the founders of the club.
