Description

This pen-and-ink drawing is of a stream bordered with rhododendron. The drawing is signed and dated in pencil and labeled: “Alum Cave Trail between Grassy Patch and Arch Rock.” Irving Rhodes Fromer (1913-1994) was a self-taught artist who was employed by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in the 1930s. He worked for both the TVA and the National Park Service and later lived in California, where he was known for creating socially conscious art.
