Description
This pen-and-ink drawing is of a windblown fir tree on open hillside with mountains in the far distance. The drawing is signed and dated in pencil and labeled: “West summit of Mt. LeConte.” Irving Rhodes Fromer (1913-1994) was a self-taught artist who was employed by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in the 1930s. He worked for both the TVA and the National Park Service and later lived in California, where he was known for creating socially conscious art.
