Description

Little is known about W. Alan Youngblood, the artist who made this series of drawings. Youngblood was an enrollee at Civilian Conservation Corps Camp NP-8, one of 22 CCC camps in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The pencil on newsprint drawings were all made in 1934 and illustrate the area in and around Greenbrier. A letter from the camp superintendent accompanied the drawings and noted them to be an accurate representation of road and bridge construction around camp. On sketch label: "Before and after. Greenbrier road to Ramsey Branch."
