On the reverse of this interior image is written, "Hikers in Silers Bald - Aug 18-19, 1929. Bob Burch, Bob McGinn, Shulley, Prof. S.H. Essary, Buffatt, Carlos C. Campbell, Willa love Galyon, Bess Avery, Bill McCammon, Jimmy Hyatt Jr., - Dutch Roth, photographer." The picture is in the collection of the Smoky Mountains Hiking Club, an organization that formed after a group of outdoor enthusiasts hiked up to Mount LeConte in October 1924. Albert Gordon "Dutch" Roth (1890-1974) was an avid photographer and one of the founders of the hiking club.
