Description
A penstock is an enclosed pipe that delivers water to hydro turbines. This 1927 photograph is of a penstock overlooking the Little Tennessee River at Rymers Ferry, on the south side of Cheoah River in Graham County, North Carolina. The picture is in the records of the Smoky Mountains Hiking Club. The club was formed after a group of outdoor enthusiasts hiked up to Mount LeConte in October 1924.
