Smoky Mountains Hiking Club of Knoxville

This 1930 photograph of hikers on the trail between Thunderhead and Gregory Bald near Russell Field was taken by Guy Frizzell, a member of the Smoky Mountains Hiking Club. The Club was formed after a group of outdoor enthusiasts hiked up to Mount LeConte in October 1924. The back of the picture is stamped “McLean's Fadeless Prints Knoxville Tenn." The hikers are identified as M.V. Anthony, Carlos C. Campbell, Prof. H.R. Duncan, J.O. Andes, and Prof. S.H. Essary.
