Description

Located a few miles south of Townsend, Tennessee, Tremont was a logging town. After the Little River Lumber Company ceased operations at Elmont in 1925, logging moved westward to Tremont. While Tremont was mostly a logging town, a hotel opened there in 1926, attracting transient loggers as well as tourists. This building was used as a church and school.
