Description
Mingus Creek was the water power that fueled Mingus Mill, an historic mill now within the boundaries of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The mill was built in 1886 and still stands on its original site. Mingus Creek, Mingus Creek Trail, and Mingus Mill take their name from John Jacob Mingus (circa 1774-1852), a settler who arrived in the Oconaluftee valley in the 1790s,
