Description

This section of "Great Smoky Mountains National Park Roads and Bridges," taken from a 1970s Historic American Engineering Record, describes the Cataloochee Valley Road. The trail was graded around 1825 and used to drive packhorses, cattle, and hogs. In 1860, the road was extended through Mount Sterling Gap.
