Description
This 1935 correspondence, from H. C. Wilburn to Zebulon Weaver, discusses the necessity to preserve Judaculla Rock, a Cherokee cultural heritage site. Wilburn suggests that the site come under the National Park Service. Judaculla Rock is located in Cullowhee, North Carolina. Born in Weaverville, North Carolina, Zebulon Weaver (1872-1948) served in the U.S. Congress. Hiram Coleman Wilburn (1880-1967) an unofficial historian with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. He curated a collection that would form the nucleus of the park’s museum.
