Description

This photograph, taken around 1911, is of the Brackin family crossing Indian Gap. Andrew Brackin and Mary Brackin Whaley are the children of Riley Davis Brackin and Mary Josephine Cole Brackin. Indian Gap was the original pass through the Great Smoky Mountains. In the mid-1930s it was replaced by Newfound Gap Road two miles to the east. Newfound Gap Road is also highway 441.
