This undated photograph is of Horace Kephart (1862-1931), noted naturalist, woodsman, journalist, author and promoter of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The image is thought to be made by Hiram Wilburn. Hiram Coleman Wilburn (1880-1967) was an unofficial historian of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Wilburn spent time identifying historic structures, collecting artifacts, and researching local history. He is credited with curating the earliest collections that would form the nucleus of the park’s museum.
