Description

The Appalachian National Park Association began with members of Asheville’s Board of Trade organizing to promote a national park in western North Carolina. In order to get their project off the ground, the group solicited subscriptions to be used “in any way desired by the park and forestry committee of the Board of Trade.” In 1899, the Appalachian National Park Association was formally established; it disbanded in 1905.
