Description

Henry Orlando Marcy (1837-1924) was a medical doctor practicing in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1885, Dr. Marcy published this paper, “The Climatic Treatment of Disease” with the subhead, “Western North Carolina as a Health Resort.” His article was often cited by the Appalachian National Park Association as a reason for having a national park in the southern Appalachians. The article was reprinted from the Journal of the American Medical Association in 1885.
