This 8-page series of correspondence between George S. Powell and C. P. Ambler follows the initial organizational meeting of the Appalachian National Park Association was formed in 1899 for the purpose of promoting the idea of a national park in the eastern U.S. George S. Powell (b. 1848) was the association’s first president. Chase P. Ambler (1865-1932) was a founding member and long-time secretary of the association.
