The full title for this Asheville Citizen article is “Delegations to Be Here Today From Various Cities to Start The Drive For National Park: Senator Mark Squires Will Preside at Today’s Meeting.” By 1925, the Appalachian National Park Association had already disbanded, but they had already put many legal steps into place. Squires was a State Senator from Lenoir, North Carolina and promoter of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
