Description
In a letter to her family, on June 14, 1935, Josephina Niggli expresses her frustration at being lost on campus at Chapel Hill when trying to register for classes. Niggli goes on to discuss how she's settled in to her new living arrangements, buying linens and decorating. Later she mentions her day in town, seeing the film "By Your Leave" with Frank Morgan and Genevive Tobin, a film that opened in November of 1934. Also mentioned was a film by Charlie Chase titled "The Scoundrel" starring Noel Coward, opening in April of 1935 as well as "The Scarlet Pimpernal," with Leslie Howard, released in December of 1934. Niggli goes on to write about an upcoming play her professor is directing, in which she will most likely audition for, with the goal of meeting new people primarily. And lastly, Niggli eagerly awaits the arrival of her typewriter so that she may put a play she's been working to paper.
