This photograph shows a young man seated in front of a cabin. The oblong hole in the wall to his left is also seen in several other photographs, including a picture in "Our Southern Highlanders" (1922 revised ed., p. 288) captioned "She knows no other lot" and in the earlier edition of "Our Southern Highlanders" (p. 225) as "'At thirty a mountain woman is apt to have a worn and faded look."' This may be the same man that is standing in the doorway in the picture "Dave Brown's House" on page 3 of the Album.
